School Rentals / Community Use of Schools
Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board is committed to sharing our school facilities with youth organizations, community partners, sports teams and local citizens.
Schools are the hubs of their communities. The Community Use of Schools program offers an effective use of taxpayers’ investment, by providing citizens with a place to come together, to volunteer, build skills, access programs, become physically active and develop strong and healthy communities.
KPRDSB offers community agencies, parent groups, sports organizations, and local citizens fair access to use school space at affordable rates during non-school hours, in accordance with Board Policy B-8.2 Community Use of School Facilities. Community Use of Schools is subject to availability and may not interfere with scheduled school activities.
NEW - Online Facility Calendars (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)
Most KPR schools are available for community use. Elementary schools typically offer single gyms and libraries for use, while secondary schools offer a wider variety of facilities for rent, including single and double gyms, auditoriums, classrooms, lecture halls and cafeterias.
Most schools are available Monday through Friday from 6 pm - 10 pm, and weekends from 8 am - 10 pm.
NEW - With our new online calendar, you can see which facilities are available for rent at each school and current availability. Please click here to find which school facilities are available for the upcoming school year.
User Group Categories and Pricing
Through this initiative, rental groups are divided into three pricing categories;
a) Not for profit youth Groups which offer programs for FREE to youth and families. These groups receive space for free, based on Ministry of Education Community of Use grants.
b) Not for profit youth and adult groups that offer programs to youth and adults at a low participation fee. These groups receive space at a 50% reduction in rates, through subsidies offered by Ministry of Education Community of Use grants.
c) For profit commercial enterprises including businesses, fundraising organizations, and other profit making endeavors.
All user groups and individuals must have liability insurance in place in order to book school facilities. Evidence of insurance, with minimum coverage of $2,000,000 and KPRDSB named as an additional insured, is required upon booking.
KPRDSB can assist groups in securing liability insurance coverage at a low premium rate. For information on insurance, and premiums, please click here.
